Favourite book list 2019

I love a book recommendation so thought I’d share my top five from the year. Feel free to share back! (Please note these are affiliate links to Amazon, of which I get a finely julienned portion.)

Best food book 2019

Arguably one of the best “diet” books (and I say that loosely), ever written.

Marc David takes you on a journey of relationship. He marries the art & science of nutrition, your soul & chemistry, thoughts & metabolisers. The Slow Down Diet is a true application of body, mind, spirit & food.

Have you ever wondered why you’re not losing weight? Isn’t it as simple as calories in energy out?

Turns out we’re far more complex than that. We have metabolic processes we’ve given little attention to, and when turned on – we turn on.

Highly recommend.

Most beautiful cookbook

Pure visual delight. Artist, photographer, forager, chef Timothy Pakron serves up a beautiful book brimming with beautiful recipes.

Fabulous fiction

This book places you firmly in our miraculous biosphere where you’ll get up close and personal with the other inhabitants. A must for nature lovers. An absolute must for the indifferent.

I finished this book with as many questions as I started. A lively book club evening followed. Glide through the marshes; squelch through humanity, isolation and coming of age. There’s no nature vs nurture here. It’s all nature. Serve with smokey black-eyed beans

Janie saw her life like a great tree in leaf with the things suffered, things enjoyed, things done and undone. Dawn and doom was in the branches.

Zora Neale Hurston brought an uncommon black female voice and presence to early 20th century literature. All I can say is keep going and you will be rewarded.
